The Network becomes the UK Registered CTU Network

03th August 2026

The UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) Registered CTU Network is proud to launch a new visual identity and name, as we become the UK Registered CTU Network.

This change marks an important evolution for the Network. It reflects both the maturity of our community and our role as a nationally recognised collective of Clinical Trials Units (CTUs) supporting high‑quality, publicly funded clinical research across the UK.

While our visual identity and name are changing, our purpose remains the same: to support excellence, collaboration, efficiency and impact in clinical trials through a strong, connected CTU community

“This shift to a self-sustaining, self-governed model is a testament to how far the UK Registered CTU Network has come, showcasing a vibrant, effective, and thriving community, and one that is poised for continued success in the years ahead. The CTU Network is well placed to drive forward the innovation that will keep UK clinical trials at the forefront of world-leading science and research.”

Dr Graham Cadwallader, Head of Clinical Research, Cancer Research UK

“The UK Registered CTU Network is central to the UK’s ability to deliver world‑leading clinical research, and Cancer Research UK is proud to champion its continued evolution. Membership of the network is a clear marker of excellence, demonstrating high standards in trial design and delivery. This update marks an important milestone for a community that underpins innovation, quality, and excellence in trials, that advances research that benefits patients worldwide.”

Why the change?

Over recent years, the Network has grown in scale, reach, and influence. Our work increasingly extends beyond formal structures, into broader engagement with funders, policymakers, industry partners, and international collaborators including membership of the DHSC’s UK Clinical Research Delivery (UKCRD) Programme Board. In this context, the name UK Registered CTU Network provides greater clarity.

The Network continues to operate through its established governance groups, registration processes, and group activity, ensuring continuity, quality, and assurance.

The updated visual identity supports this maturation and independence. It presents a confident, and cohesive look, designed to work consistently across our digital, print, and event settings. Together, the new name and visual identity help us to communicate more clearly who we are, what we do, and the broad value we bring.

What does the UK Registered CTU Network represent?

The UK Registered CTU Network brings together registered CTUs from across the UK to:

  • Support high standards in the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical trials.
  • Enable collaboration, innovation and shared learning.
  • Provide a collective voice in national and international clinical research discussions.
  • Strengthen the visibility and impact of publicly funded clinical trials.

What is changing – and what is not?

What’s changing

  • Our name: UK CRC Registered CTU Network → UK Registered CTU Network
  • Our visual identity: refreshed branding.
  • How we present ourselves externally across communications and events.

What’s staying the same

  • Our commitment to maintaining rigorous standards and quality assurance in publicly funded research.
  • Our collaborative, community‑led approach.
  • Our support for UK‑wide clinical research via sharing of knowledge with other networks, funders, regulators, and government bodies.

Existing members remain members of the Network, and there is no change to registration status or expectations as a result of this branding update.

Launch and next steps

Our new identity will be rolled out across Network communications, the website, and upcoming events over the coming months. Members and stakeholders will begin to see the UK Registered CTU Network name and visual identity used from this point forward.

Prof Kerry Hood, Director of the UK CTU Network

“We are grateful to our CTU community and partners who continue to shape and strengthen the Network. This update allows us to reflect who we are today – and supports where we are going next.”
